Bread and Diabetes

Something that we have discovered with our Gluten and Allergen Digested Breads, is that our customers who need to monitor their blood sugar are finding these bread seems to be not causing a spike like normal breads do.

Although using the same flours and grains as our regular everyday baked bread, this bread is made using a different technique.

So what about our Flours and Grains we use.

Our White Flour is milled in Australia from Australian grown wheat without being artificially bleached.

Wholemeal Flour:

Your may or may not of heard of the description 90/10 Wholemeal. The husk is removed from the wheat and the kernel is milled in the same way as regular white Flour. After milling the Husk is returned, thus giving the description 90% white Flour and 10% Husk. This method is employed to return fibre back into the flour.

Multi Grains:

You may of read or heard that Multigrain is just Grains mixed with white bread dough.

Yes, this is also the case with our Multigrain breads, however the grains we add are a mixture of malted, cracked, and pre soaked.

Of course our flours and grains all come from Ben Furney Flours.

Our Gluten and Allergen Digested Bread dough’s are treated with Biohawks Bake-aid.

Then we employ a blend of different aged (Bake-aid treated) dough’s to take advantage of the natural fermentation process very similar to the process of making a sourdough. (Soughdough and Sourdoughs)

These dough’s are made up of wheat Flour, Water, Vegetable Oil, Salt, and Yeast  . The only additive is the Biohawk Bake-aid.

For those of you who may know about how Bread is now able to made in a matter of hours may say what about a product known as “Bread Improver”

This product is used in our everyday breads just like most of todays Bakeries, however it is excluded from our batchs of Gluten and Allergen Digested Breads.

So how do you get some of this Bread.

We normally do a batch each week. These batch’s are done accordingly to order quantity.

All you need to do is advise us your contact details and we will let you know when we are taking orders for the next batch.

Free Plant Program

So a great day was had on the 12th of May, 2018 outside Ipswich City Division 5 Councilor Wayne Wendt’s Office. He had arranged a Mobile Nursery Event to be held in Jacaranda Centre’s shared car park. Facebook Photo’s

Although we don’t currently sell this line, we bake them.

Sunday Trading

We have suspended our Sunday Trading from the beginning of September School Holidays through to after Easter.

 

Smoked Brisket Pie

After being slow smoked (Hickory)  Chunky Beef Pie only it has a rich Smokey flavour (of course).

Baked as a deep dish pie in our own rolled pastry as a single serve.

We consider this pie to be part of our Gourmet Range, meaning it is limited batch’s and stocks, normally only available in the cooler months between Easter and September School Holidays.

Gluten Digested Saturday Bake

We normaly bake for pickup every 2nd Saturday morning, and orders close on Thursdays.

We do the range of  Breads, Bread Rolls, Fruit Buns, Cream (mock) Buns, .

The Fruit Buns are ordered as a pack of six, and Cream Buns as a pack of four.

Your choice of bread is not just limited to White Bread. Multi-Grain (pre softened grains), Wholemeal, Wholegrain, Fruit Loaf, and Sourdough may be ordered also.

As well as Loaves, Bread Rolls (Lunch, Hamburger, or Hotdog) may be ordered.

We are also do  Sausage Rolls, Chunky Beef (plain),  Apple Pies,  and Apricot Pies . We can do them in either the regular size or as a Family size Pie.

Also Apple Turnovers, Vanilla Slice, Carrot Cake and Madeira Cake.

All baked with a treatments of “Biohawks Bake-Aid and Relief”.

Batch sizes are limited.

Like our other bread products, we use Australian Flour that has not been chemically bleached. With Gluten Digested Breads we employ a more traditional technique (similar to sourdough), which allows the dough to “develop” naturally without adding improver .  The Fruits and Grains have also been treated to address a whole scope of food allergen reactions.

Please note this treatment does not make the product “Gluten Free”. Gluten is still present, this treatment may change the way your body reacts to gluten.

Beef Brisket Pies

We bake a special batch of Hickory Smoked Beef Brisket Pies. The Brisket is freshly smoked at our local Butcher (Blackall Street Butchery)

The pies are available as a deep dish Family Pie (from Blackall Street Butchery) or as a smaller Deep Dish Pie (meal for 1).

The smaller Pies are now being offered from the Shop Front Pie warmer.

Chunky Beef Chilli Pie

Feeling chilly this morning?
Call in and try our Chunky Beef Chilli Pie. Its our regular Chunky Beef Pie topped with our own Chilli Sauce. What Chilli did we use? Well we were using “Carolina Reaper” but our source seems to have dried up.

After trialing a few others….Yeah! “Birds Eye” was a bit tame, I have settled on another. This mix brings a bit of a sweat to the brow but not ridiculous.

  No, I don’t consider its “super hot”, It just gives a nice mild burn.
